Joe Rogan Believes Dana White Should’ve Invested In KickBoxing Instead Of Power Slap

Dana White has invested a lot of time and money into slap fighting since he launched slap fighting league ‘Power Slap’ in 2022. Dana White has hyped up Power Slap to a massive degree, even saying it could be bigger than the UFC.
Despite working for the company and being friends with Dana, Joe Rogan admits that he’s not a fan of Power Slap and thinks Dana should’ve instead invested in Kickboxing. Rogan made mention of this on his Fight Companion for UFC Fight Night 255.
I think the UFC fucked up when they went with slap fighting, I’ve been telling them forever, ‘You guys should get into kickboxing.’ If you only like standup fights, it’s not like the old days of kickboxing where they were boring. The knockouts are fucking crazy. Kickboxing with MMA gloves in a cage would be giant. Just have a striking-only segment of the UFC. Glory’s got some elite fighters. I watch Glory all the time. It’s fucking exciting, but nobody’s watching it. Nobody knows who these people are.
UFC wouldn’t be the first to do a hybrid card. Currently, ONE Championship has cards with MMA, Muay Thai and KickBoxing all on the same event. UFC adding one or two Kickboxing fights to their cards wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Many Glory Kickboxers such as Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira eventually make the transition over to MMA and a lot of the reason is for pay and stardom. UFC investing in Kickboxing could be huge.
Recently, UFC invested in jiu-jitsu after signing five-time IBJJF world champion Mikey Musumeci to an exclusive deal for their UFC Fight Pass Invitational events with matches streaming on UFC Fight Pass and we’ve seen other top names join from the Jiu-Jitsu side as well. Plus, Dana White and TKO partnered with chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh to launch a new boxing promotion. With their hands in all the pots, Kickboxing could be next.
