Odyssey Jones Files Defamation Lawsuit Over WWE Release

A lawsuit has been filed.

Former WWE superstar Odyssey Jones, real name Omari Palmer, has filed a defamation lawsuit against his former partner Meileth Nunez, which alleges that she made false statements that led to his release from WWE.

The lawsuit was filed on January 20 in Orange County, Florida and accuses Nunez of libel and slander, claiming she falsely alleged he physically abused her, while Nunez stands by her allegations, insisting that Palmer did abuse her, Palmer is seeking damages exceeding $50,000.

First reported by POST Wrestling, the lawsuit by Palmer was filed on January 20 in Orange County, Florida. The lawsuit shows Palmer accused Nunez of libel and slander, claiming that Nunez falsely reported acts of physical abuse. It goes on to state that Nunez “falsely communicated” with WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings, about nonsexual physical assault on multiple occasions between May and July of 2024. Palmer states that what Nunez told TKO Group and various news outlets was “maliciously made with actual knowledge of the statements’ falsity.” This claim will be examined in the defamation case, as Palmer may be considered a public figure and must provide actual proof of malice.

Nunez filed a police report in Maitland, Florida, alleging battery against Palmer in May of 2024. Police documented photos of physical bruises she had on her legs and shoulders, which she claimed were caused by Palmer. Omari Palmer denied those allegations. Palmer sought a protection order against Nunez in September 2024 following his WWE release, alleging that Nunez had been physically violent towards him on a cruise. Palmer indicated that he had filed a report with the Maitland Police Department concerning the incident, which included allegations of stalking by his former partner. However, when POST Wrestling contacted the department in January, they informed the publication that there was no record of stalking claims made by Palmer against Nunez. The only report in their files was the one from Nunez against Palmer in May of 2024.

In February, Nunez officially responded to the lawsuit and denied Palmers claims, calling them “retaliatory”. Nunez plans to file counterclaims against Palmer for harassment and pursue an order of protection against him. She also provided excerpts of a letter to Palmer’s attorney, Roddy Lanigan, stating, “Investigative findings from TKO concluded there was probable cause for [Palmer’s] termination based on his conduct.” Neither WWE nor TKO has publicly made comment on the situation as of this writing.
