On tonight’s edition of WWE NXT, Tony D’Angelo defended his WWE NXT North American Championship against Shawn Spears. When Shawn, FKA Tye Dillinger, was in WWE NXT originally, this title wasn’t even thought of. But, since returning to the company after a few years in AEW, Shawn has had his eye on Tony and the championship.
Spears finally got his opportunity, but he had to work for it in a hard fought battle that saw both men’s respective teammates get involved, which ended up causing Tony D’Angelo to hurt his back when his partner Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo accidentally knocking him off the apron, where he landed back first onto a chair.
In the end, it was Tony’s back that gave out and allowed Spears to pick up the win and become a champion on the NXT brand for the very first time. Shawn Spears is now WWE NXT North American Champion.
