SmackDown Sees Steepest Ratings Decline In January
Smackdown ratings are down.
Wrestling fans love a good ratings talk, for some reason. But, there are some interesting notes regarding the ratings from both WWE and AEW as we continue on into 2025. Surprisingly, WWE NXT did well with year-over-year growth in January, improving their total viewership by 22% and P18-49 ratings by 5%. They’re the only show do to so in the United States.
WWE RAW is not much of a fair comparison, now that the show has moved to Netflix and the viewership and demographic information is no long available. But, it’s Smackdown that has taken the biggest hit. Smackdown moved from Fox to USA Network, and that’s like y the reason for its decline. But, Smackdown does have the biggest decline with a 39% decline year over year in January 2025.
SmackDown saw an average of 1.480 million P2+ viewers and an average P18-49 rating of 0.44 in January 2025. This is compared to 2.433 million and 0.67 in January 2024. Smackdown was the steepest decline between any WWE or AEW brand during the same period.
AEW Dynamite dropped from 828,000 P2+ viewers in January 2024 to 627,4000 in January 2025, a 24% drop. Dynamite declined 39% in the key P18-49 demographic, from an average rating of 0.28 to 0.17. AEW Collision dropped 17% of its P2+ viewership and 10% of P18-49 ratings.
