EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Nemeth Speaks Out on AEW Exit & Workplace Complaint – “By No Means Resolved”

“This will probably be going on for as long as things take to go on for… but I’m very confident it will be good.”

Ryan Nemeth has broken his silence on his AEW departure and the reported workplace complaint that made headlines late last year. While many assumed the situation had been quietly handled, Nemeth has confirmed that it is still ongoing, and he expects it to take time before any resolution is reached.

Speaking exclusively to Mark O’Brien (@wrestlemobs) on Bodyslam.net, Nemeth made it clear that the issue is far from over:

“That will probably be going on for as long as things take to go on for. I think it’s a very nice wish of yours that it would be resolved by now, but by no means is it resolved at all. But I hope that it will be someday, and I’m very, very confident that it will be good.”

Nemeth’s AEW Exit & Backstage Issues

Reports of Nemeth’s AEW departure first surfaced in late 2023, when Fightful Select revealed that he had filed a formal complaint against AEW management. While the details remain undisclosed, the situation was significant enough that Nemeth was pulled from AEW programming and eventually left the company.

One of the key reported incidents involved a tense backstage altercation with CM Punk during the early days of AEW Collision in mid-2023. Nemeth was booked for the show but was suddenly removed from the tapings after a reported confrontation with Punk. This fueled speculation that Nemeth was among those caught in AEW’s backstage politics, particularly during Punk’s tumultuous second run with the company.

While Punk himself was later released from AEW following his backstage fight with Jack Perry at All In 2023, Nemeth never returned to AEW television. His contract reportedly expired at the end of 2023, at which point he signed with TNA Wrestling.

Though Nemeth did not directly reference CM Punk or any specific AEW executive in this interview, his wording strongly suggests that his complaint is still an active issue behind the scenes.

“I think it’s a very nice wish of yours that this would be resolved by now… but it’s by no means resolved at all.”

This implies that Nemeth may still be pursuing the issue through legal or corporate channels and that there is more to the situation than has been publicly revealed.

AEW vs. TNA: A Fresh Start?

Since leaving AEW, Nemeth has fully embraced his new role in TNA, appearing in major segments alongside his brother Nick Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler), Joe Hendry, and WWE Hall of Famer JBL.

When asked about the difference between AEW and TNA, Nemeth didn’t hold back:

“At some other company, they thought the best I could offer was an eight-man tag match on a Ring of Honor show that nobody watches. Now, I’m trusted to be part of major segments, and it feels great.”

While he avoided directly criticizing AEW, this statement is a clear indication that he felt underutilized and undervalued in Tony Khan’s company.

“I’m very lucky that TNA sees something in me and wants me to be in a bigger role. You don’t always get that everywhere.”

TNA has positioned Nemeth as a featured player, while AEW’s treatment of him suggests that he was seen as a lower-tier talent during his time there. His comments will likely spark discussion among fans about how AEW managed its roster and whether certain talents were overlooked.

Will Nemeth Speak Out Further?

As of now, Nemeth has not provided further details on his AEW exit or the specific nature of his complaint—but his confidence in a positive resolution suggests that there is still more to this story.

If Nemeth chooses to speak out in greater detail or if any new developments arise, this could become a major controversy for AEW management.

For now, he’s focused on his future in TNA—but the unfinished business with AEW looms in the background.
