The Ring Boy Lawsuit Now Allowed To Continue On
The Ring Boy Lawsuit continues.
WWE Lawsuit
Back in October 2024, there was a lawsuit was filed against Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, WWE, and TKO on behalf of five survivors of the Ring Boy Scandal. If you are unaware, the scandal surrounds allegations of former WWE ring announcer Mel Phillips and former wrestler-turned Vice President of Operations Terry Garvin of sexually abusing teenage boys who were brought in by Phillips to help set up at shows and run errands.
The lawsuit claims negligence by Vince, Linda and WWE, who allowed the abuse to take place and continue. Now, since TKO IS the current owner of WWE, they’re liable. The lawsuit was motioned to go ahead due to a 2023 law in Maryland stating there is no statute of limitations on child abuse in that state. But, back in December of 2024, a judge granted a motion by WWE to pause the lawsuit until the Maryland Supreme Court ruled on the constitutionality of the Child Victims Act.
On Monday February 3, 2025, the Maryland Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that the Child Victims Act is indeed constitutional and thus the Ring Boy Scandal lawsuit can move forward. The Baltimore Sun was the first to report the news. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
You can see comments from attorney Greg Gutzler, who represents the victims, below.
