Ryan Garcia And Devin Haney To Fight Separately On The Same Card With Rematch Talks Looming

Setting up a rematch?

Haney vs. Garcia 2?

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have had issues since their first fight in April of last year. While Ryan Garcia did win the fight by decision, the win was overturned to a no-contest after Ryan Garcia tested positive for performance-enhancing drug ostarine. Handy then filed a lawsuit against Garcia back in September in U.S. District Court in New York for battery, fraud and breach of contract in connection with Garcia’s doping violation.

Neither have competed since then, as the lawsuit was on-going. But, both men asked a court to pause proceedings for 90-days due to  a tentative settlement. Now, both men will return to action.

Turki Alalshikh announced Monday that Ryan Garcia will fight Rolly Romero in his return, while Devin Haney will battle Jose Ramirez. The card will not be under the Riyadh Season banner, instead, the event will be branded as a Ring Magazine card in the United States in May.

If Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney were to both win, they plan on having the two meet in a rematch in October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Due to the weight issues last time, both competitors will campaign for a rematch to be at 147lbs this time, if it goes down. Martin Bakole versus Efe Ajagba in an IBF heavyweight title eliminator will be on the card as well.
