Rey Mysterio vs. Kevin Owens
Rey Mysterio kicked off SmackDown in his hometown of San Diego, California, Rey Mysterio first reminisced on being in his hometown, and they mention that that’s where he got his Royal Rumble victory, in California. He then declared for the 2025 royal rumble and said that he will win and head to WrestleMania. WWE championship.
Kevin Owens then interrupted and said that he respects Rey Mysterio more than the business and that he would be honored to wrestle Rey Mysterio for the WWE championship if you were to win the royal rumble. Rey responded by saying that Cody is the real champion which then pissed off Kevin, causing him to try to attack Rey, which backfired as Rey sent him packing.
Backstage, Nick Aldis granted Rey’s wish and made Kevin Owens vs. Rey Mysterio official for tonight.
