Hometown loss!
Rey Mysterio kicked off SmackDown to announce his entry in the Royal Rumble. Kevin Owens the interrupted to tell Rey he will gladly give him a title shot if Mysterio wins the Rumble. Of course, Rey told Kevin that Cody was the real champion, which pissed Kevin off, setting up a match for tonight.
Well, when Kevin and Rey went one-on-one, Rey was pulling out all of the stops. Kevin wouldn’t stay down easy, though. Yet, it was the 619 that had the hometown crowd rocking.
Kevin then ruined the westcoast pop when he pushed the referee in the way, then hit Rey with a pop-up powerbomb for the win. After the match, Kevin shook Rey’s hand before attacking him. But, Cody Rhodes made the save. Cody and Kevin brawled around ringside and had to be pulled apart by security and referees.
