NJPW SAKURA GENESIS 2024 Full Results (4/6/2024), Two Title Changes Occur

On April 6th, New Japan Pro-Wrestling presented SAKURA GENESIS 2024 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. There were over 6,600 fans in attendance to witness the latest NJPW major event.

The featured match of the evening saw the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito defending his title against the New Japan Cup 2024 winner Yota Tsuji. In a bout that lasted over 30 minutes, Naito was able to retain his championship after hitting a Destino on Tsuji and scoring the pinfall win.

Two titles changed hands at SAKURA GENESIS 2024. Shingo Takagi defeated EVIL to become the NEVER Openweight Champion for the fourth time in his career. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI were victorious over KENTA & Chase Owens to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles. This is the 4th reign for Goto & HASHI.

The IWGP Jr Heavyweight Title match between champion SHO & challenger YOH ended prematurely due to YOH suffering a dislocated shoulder early in the encounter.

Main Event: IWGP World Heavyweight Title: Tetsuya Naito (c) defeated Yota Tsuji to retain his title
NEVER Openweight Title: Shingo Takagi defeated EVIL (c) to become the new NEVER Openweight Champion
Special Tag Match: Jon Moxley & Shota Umino defeated Jack Perry & Ren Narita
IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: SHO (c) defeated YOH as match was stopped due to YOH dislocating his shoulder.
IWGP Tag Team Title: Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI defeated KENTA & Chase Owens (c) to become the new IWGP Tag Team Champions.
IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title, 3 Way Match: Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney (c) defetaed TJP & Francesco Akira vs. KUSHIDA & Kevin Knight to retain their titles.
SANADA, Yuya Uemura & DOUKI defeated Jeff Cobb, Great-O-Khan & Callum Newman
Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI defeated David Finlay & Gedo
Zack Sabre Jr. & Kosei Fujita defeated El Desperado & Ryusuke Taguchi
Frontier Zone: Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano & Oleg Boltin defeated Ayato Yoshida, Takuro Niki & Chicharito Shoki
