Shinsuke Nakamura Tells Story About Botch When He Dumped Cena On His Head & Getting Yelled At After

WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura recently spoke to The Gorilla Position, during the interview he discussed an incident going into last year’s SummerSlam when he faced John Cena on SmackDown LIVE. The match determined who would be the #1 contender for the WWE Championship, and earn the right to face the Champion at SummerSlam.

During the finish of the match, there was a spot Nakamura executed a belly-to-back suplex on Cena, but accidentally ended up dumping Cena on his head in the process. Shinsuke revealed that the botched spot did not go over very well backstage, and talked about the heat he got backstage following the match and that Cena actually took the blame for the spot trying to cover for Shinsuke.

Regarding the botched spot on SmackDown that saw Shinsuke drop Cena on his head, Nakamura said:

“I don’t know if I can tell that or not.. Because some people were upset backstage — not John Cena, but someone. They were so pissed off at me, ‘why did you do that?!’ But everybody came to support me, even John Cena, ‘it’s not his fault, it’s my fault’ What a good man.

“So not everybody has a chance to wrestle with John Cena now. So I felt good in the ring with John Cena. I never had a villain in the ring so if I had the chance I want to wrestle against him again. Maybe we can create something better than before, yeah.”

You can see video highlights of the match, with the spot which saw Cena land on his head occur at the very end of the match, the move prior to Shinsuke hitting his kinshasa knee strike, below.
