TNA President Carlos Silva On Media Rights Status: “I’m Going To Keep Working On It Until We Get That Right Deal That Continues To Expand The Audience For TNA”

For weeks now, speculation has been running rampant throughout the wrestling community since about two weeks prior to Slammiversary where TNA President Carlos Silva was very vocal about getting TNA a better television/broadcast/streaming deal in an interview surfaced with Carlos Silva and John Wallstreet where some of the same topic was discussed, however, no specific network was named.

Last week, Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio shared that A&E network was the alleged “frontrunner” to land TNA on their platform, however, another network has now emerged as being rumored for negotiations with TNA, and In the August 4th edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave spilled the beans on a possible alternative network being interested – which Fightful Select later confirmed.

Recently, Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com sat down with TNA President Carlos Silva to discuss a bunch of topics, most notably the media rights situation.

“I spoke with TNA President Carlos Silva earlier today and during the interview I asked him about our report that the company had spoken with A&E and about the CW Network rumors.”

Silva said, “I can’t really say anything about the rumors, because they are just rumors. I do enjoy reading all the rumors. We’re talking to everybody. There have been a lot of great discussions over the last 60 days, sort of leading up to Slammiversary. Slammiversary did exactly what you wanted to do, which is to create buzz and make and continue to elevate TNA. Not just for the fans, but for these potential partners that we’re all talking to. It’s helped us, it’s helped move things along. Traditionally, August is a bit of a slow month in the media space. A lot of people are taking time off and getting kids back to school and things of that nature. We’ll continue to push in August and as we get into September and drive to Bound For Glory, hopefully we’ll be able to get a handshake together and if we need to dot the “is” and cross the “ts” as we get through the year, we’ll do that. That’s what we’re working on. It’s tough. Every single day it’s what I worry about and I’m going to keep doing it until we get that right deal that continues to expand the audience for TNA. Having said that, with everything we’re doing right now with AXS TV, YouTube, TNA+, the numbers are all up and we continue to grow. That’s just part of what you have to do to show potential partners the power and the potential of TNA Wrestling.”

Shortly after the above-referenced John Wallstreeg interview, TNA President Carlos Silva was on the Ariel Helwani show talking more in-depth about media rights and also revealed the subscriber count for the TNA + app. Silva reiterated a 60-90 day expectation for a new media rights deal.
