Cody Rhodes: I Very Much Look Forward To My Final Dance With John Cena At WWE SummerSlam

The American Nightmare is ready to cross the finish line once again.

At WWE SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes, who won the 2025 Men’s King of the Ring tournament, will battle it out with John Cena, the same man who turned his back on the WWE to align himself with the Rock and Travis Scott to achieve his record-breaking, seventeenth reign with the WWE World Championship.

While speaking with Busted Open, Rhodes discussed the negative reception that they received from the ending to his first battle with Cena at WrestleMania 41, and said his goal is to make sure the finish line is crossed at SummerSlam against the Greatest of All Time.

“SummerSlam, I don’t wanna go as far as making any promises, but I can tell you the goal with SummerSlam is if people felt a certain way about WrestleMania, I will put that all on my back and take all the credit and responsibility for perhaps not feeling satisfied. I’d like to get ‘em to the finish line with SummerSlam. Very much looking forward to doing this dance again.”

Rhodes defeated his mentor, Randy Orton, at Night of Champions to earn the opportunity to rewrite his wrongs from this past April in Las Vegas as he looks to reclaim the WWE Championship for the people.
