Reactions from WWE Stars on WWE’s Release of R-Truth

June 1st, 2025 was a sad day for many in the wrestling world after WWE shockingly chose to not renew R- Truth’s contract.

Many WWE talent were flummoxed when they heard WWE lifer R-Truth was released. Following Truth’s own statement on the matter, many wrestlers gave their thoughts on social media.

According to Fightful Select, this was the most shocked the locker room has ever been over any wrestler being let go.

“The reaction from the roster was unlike anything we’ve covered — despite covering hundreds of releases and departures. The departure was met with complete shock and disbelief, with one top talent calling it “total nonsense.” Another called this regime “ruthless.” It’s by far the most criticized and universally disliked departure we’ve covered. Throughout Fightful’s 9 years of existence, we’ve never had a backstage source speak ill, or anything less than glowingly of Truth.”

Truth spent a combined 20 years in the company. Truth was in the WWF from 1999-2001. He then made a much bigger splash in NWA and TNA as Ron “The Truth Killings” before returning to WWE in 2008 and Truth has been with the company since then. His most recent appearance was on this past week’s Smackdown in a loss J.C. Mateo. That followed up his biggest match in years which was losing to John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Truth hasn’t been on the indie scene in over 15 years but it has been learned that their is a good chance that he owns the rights to his current WWE theme which means he could continue using that song outside WWE. Reports are that top independent promotions are very interested in Truth.
