It has been a contentious week backstage in TNA Wrestling amid reports of firings and some new faces set to take over.
Ahead of TNA’s St Joseph, Missouri television tapings tonight and tomorrow night (get your tickets for those here), some praise is coming out of the TNA office for a few people.
“John E. Bravo has been getting some praise internally for his talent scouting in his new role for TNA’s Talent Relations. PWInsider.com is told that new signing Maggie Lee was one of the first talents Bravo helped shepherd into the company.”
Bravo has been with TNA for a number of years now in both talent and production roles, most recently as Production & Talent Coordinator. However, Bravo was officially added to the Talent Relations department as of February.
Bravo is very well liked and he has steeped up in a major way over the past year since the departure of former TNA EVP Scott D’Amore, essentially taking over his role in the guerilla position and coordinating segments, matches, talent, and production – all at the same time – to make the shows run smoothly.
“Although he was referred to as departing internally this week in a memo from Anthem head Carlos Silva, Rafael Morfi has continued to assist with this weekend’s TNA tapings in Missouri and has remained in company meetings, PWInsider.com is told.
Morfi has been working with TNA Wrestling under what we are told is a short-term consulting agreement. Thanks to his oversight of strong live event ticket sales, we are told the two sides had “meaningful discussions” about expanding Morfi’s role. These talks included the possibility of Morffi joining TNA in a full-time capacity. During those discussions, Morfi was part of the small TNA group present at the NXT Roadblock event at The Theater in Madison Square Garden a few weeks back.
We are told that earlier this week, Morfi and TNA were unable to come to an agreement on what his role would be and what the financial terms would be, so he will exit when his consulting agreement comes to an end.”
Rafael was one of the people listed earlier in the week as being let go from TNA, although not an official employee but in a consultant role. It looks like he will stay on a bit longer, as the length of his current agreement is not yet known.
Hopefully Rafael and TNA will continue discussions and come to a longer-term deal.
