On December 27th, 2024 WWE aired the 1,323rd episode of Smackdown live in Tampa Florida inside Amalie Arena & can watch it on USA Network (USA) & SportsNet 360 (Canada)
-Kicking off this week’s Smackdown with a a video recapping the ongoings between Kevin Owens & Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes over the course of the past several weeks.
-Nick Aldis then appears from his office and clarifies that although Owens has the Winged Eagle Title, he is not the Undisputed WWE Champion. He informs Owens that he has until the end of the night to relinquish the Winged Eagle Title unless he wants to face severe consequences.
-Backstage Cathy Kelley interviewed Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca BelAir & Naomi. Naomi said she wanted to win gold since she returned even if it didn’t happen in the way she expected, especially because of what happened to Jade Cargill. BelAir reiterated that they would defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles until Cargill was able to return and they found out who attacked her. She blamed Women’s Champion Nia Jax, Ms Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton & Women’s Speed Champion Candice LeRae & Bayley comes into frame and said she had their backs against them tonight.
-Nia Jax had a microphone and reiterated that none of them touched Jade Cargill. She insulted Tiffany Stratton as being too dumb to orchestrate an attack and accused Bianca BelAir of avoiding suspicion of doing the crime herself. Jax explained that Cargill came in and she was bigger, stronger and better than her, and she snapped. She said she would have done the same thing, and told her to admit to it rather than pointing fingers.
-She demanded she own up to it or she would make her own up to it.
6 Woman Tag Team Match
Women’s Speed Champion Candice LeRae, Women’s Champion Nia Jax & Ms Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton vs. Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca BelAir & Naomi & Bayley
Tiffany Stratton grabs her Money In The Bank briefcase with Nia Jax down.
She looks to cash it in but an angered Candice LeRae grabs it from her.
Stratton & LeRae begin to argue with Stratton telling LeRae that she wants to be champion.
This then opens the door for Naomi to send LeRae crashing into the mat with a Full Nelson Bomb for the win.
Winners: Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca BelAir & Naomi & Bayley
-Inside Nick Aldis’ office A Town Down Under complained to Nick Aldis about Braun Strowman. Aldis kicked them out of his office and told Austin Theory he had a match with Strowman to prepare for & Aldis said he was waiting for someone. Sami Zayn then walks in and told Aldis they had to talk.
-After the break Sami Zayn says that he thinks it’s only fair that he only gets the opportunity for revenge against The Bloodline but Carmelo Hayes walks in. Zayn confronts him about walking in on his conversation with Aldis before challenging him to a match later tonight.
Braun Strowman vs. Austin Theory
Austin Theory gets Braun Strowman up on his shoulders for A Town Down but buckles under his mass.
This opens the door for Strowman to hit a over the shoulder powerslam to put away Theory.
Winner: Braun Strowman
-After the break Kevin Owens was shown from his car. He said he had heard what Nick Aldis had said, all of it. Owens called himself the rightful WWE Champion and that he deserved the Winged Eagle. He understands that Aldis wants it back but he would only come into the arena on his terms. Owens demanded that Aldis meet him in the ring alone with no officials or office cronies and then they could talk.
-Piper Niven introduces Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green and she makes her way out. She thanks fans and says she wants to take the time to say that she and the WWE Universe did it. She brags about being the inaugural United States Champion then thanks herself rather than Niven for standing by her side. She tells Michin good riddance, and says she’s shocked she made it as far in the Women’s United States Title Tournament as she did.
-Michin’s music hits and she makes her way out with a kendo stick in hand. She says if it weren’t for Niven, she would’ve been the inaugural Women’s United States Champion. She marches down to the ring and Niven meets her on the ramp. Michin repeatedly hits with the kendo stick then slides in the ring. Niven pulls Green out of the ring before Michin can hit her with the kendo stick.
-Backstage Nick Aldis confronted WWE Tag Team Champions DIY with Street Profits about the attack on the Profits backstage a few weeks ago. Aldis said they had 2 witnesses, and Pretty Deadly appeared. They tried to extort Aldis to fund their musical but he threatened their jobs. They started to say Johnny Gargano but instead said Garza when Gargano gave them a look.
-Street Profits asked if they were certain it was Garza and they said yes. Street Profits then located and attacked Los Garzas somewhere else backstage and Aldis had them separated and made a match for up next
Tag Team Match
Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) vs. Los Garzas (Angel Garza & Humberto)
Elektra Lopez pulls Angel Garza out of the ring before Street Profits can level him but B Fab takes her down.
Montez Ford dumps Angel back inside the ring and tags in.
Street Profits then hits a Electric Chair/Blockbuster combination for the win.
Winners: Street Profits
-A video package aired for Andrade where he said he would expose United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and prove that Andrade is inevitable.
-After the break Pretty Deadly walked backstage and ran into WWE Tag Team Champions DIY. They offered a quid pro quo and Tommaso Ciampa said if they looked out for them, they would return the favor. They then ran into Street Profits & they offered respect for tipping them off about Los Garzas. Motor City Machine Guns then appeared and said they wanted a rematch first and Street Profits had to get in line. Apollo Crews then walked up and told Street Profits they were getting played and that DIY had attacked them.
Sami Zayn vs. Carmelo Hayes
Sami Zayn follows it up with an exploder and looks to land Helluva Kick but Carmelo Hayes slides out of the ring before he can land it.
The referee begins a 10 count and Hayes retreats up the ramp but Braun Strowman’s music hits and he chases him to the back.
Back in the ring The Bloodline attacks Zayn causing the disqualification.
Winner By DQ: Sami Zayn
-After the match The Bloodline continues beating down Zayn before Strowman reemerges and takes down Solo Sikoa. Jacob Fatu appears behind Strowman opening the door for Sikoa to hit the Samoan Spike to Strowman. Zayn beats down Sikoa but Tama Tonga holds him in place as Fatu flies off the top rope with a moonsault. Nick Aldis and other officials then run down to the ring to check on Zayn before Kevin Owens follows.
-Nick Aldis says he’s said everything he’s needed to and asks Owens to hand him the Winged Eagle Title. Owens asks Aldis why he would give it to him considering that it’s his only bargaining chip, then demands a rematch against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title making it clear that it’s the only way that he’ll get it back. Aldis tells Owens that he will never step foot in a WWE ring again if he doesn’t hand over the Winged Eagle Title.
-Rhodes’ music hits and he makes his way out. Aldis tells Rhodes to walk away but Rhodes says he won’t be doing that. He tells Aldis that he doesn’t want Owens to hand over the Winged Eagle Title then says when he met Owens, he was young and hungry looking to climb the ladder. He says back then, he did what he did for himself but now he does it for his family, the fans, his friends, and the people who believed in him. He says the Winged Eagle Title was meant to be something special for the fans but it’s now time for him to take it back. He says he & Owens are no longer friends then reiterates that he wants a match against Owens where the referee can’t stop him.
-Rhodes proposes that he & Owens unify the Undisputed WWE Title & Winged Eagle Title in a Ladder Match and Aldis reluctantly makes it official for Royal Rumble. Owens says that sounds great to him and offers his hand to Rhodes but Rhodes refuses to shake it. Owens then pushes Aldis into Rhodes and stomps on his neck then heads to the back holding up the Winged Eagle Title as officials check on Rhodes
