Cody Rhodes On WrestleMania 40 Documentary: I Was At My Lowest Point, I Didn’t Want To Relive All Of Those Moments
Cody Rhodes went through a lot in the build to WrestleMania 40.
After a couple of months of keeping fans waiting, WWE released the WrestleMania XL Behind The Scenes documentary which would highlight all the moments that happened in the build to the grandest stage of them all. Such as the WWE going from The Rock vs. Roman Reigns in the main event to Rock & Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins at night one and Cody vs. Roman at night two.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Rhodes was asked about the documentary and how he felt watching it back all over again for the first time.
“They got me at my lowest point. A lot of the capture was potentially a second part for my documentary. So much of that capture ended up going towards behind the scenes. I thought Ben Houser did a great job handling the four guys. To me, it’s really a documentary more about Triple H and The Rock, and seeing that relationship come together. I watched enough of it to feel like, ‘I don’t want to relive this moment.’ I don’t want to relive that moment in Birmingham, walking back, where I didn’t even walk through Gorilla, I went around it, to go to my bus, just because I didn’t want to pretend. This is not okay. I’m also a wrestler and a professional, and we shook hands, so look each other in the eye and move on. They caught me at the lowest point and it was a little tough to watch. A little too close for me. I thought Ben Houser did a great job with it,” he said
Rhodes would go on to defeat Roman at night two thanks to some help from Jey Uso, John Cena, and the Undertaker who all prevented the Bloodline from stopping Rhodes from finishing his story.
