AJ Styles On His Time In The WWE Working For Vince McMahon And Triple H

“The Phenomenal One” was recently interviewed by Inside The Ropes to discuss the state of his wrestling career as AJ Styles gets ready for the biggest match of his WWE career against Seth Rollins  for the resurrected World Heavyweight Championship. Since making his main roster debut in 2016, Styles has maintained his position as a notable talent, working both under Vince McMahon and, more recently, Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

When asked about his relationships with McMahon and Levesque, Styles originally stated that it was Triple H who brought him into WWE in the first place.

“I talked to [Terry Taylor] first… but Triple H was the one who got the ball rolling”

He then worked with McMahon for the first seven years of his time there before Triple H took over as Chief Content Officer in 2022. Styles, on the other hand, has seen little alteration since Levesque took over as creative director.

“I don’t feel like there’s that much of a switch”

“Whether it’s Triple H or Vince McMahon, the orders are coming down from them, and I want to make sure they get what they want.”

Styles noted that, while he recognizes that people backstage are feeling the tension between the two figures, while he’s on the road, he focuses on his performance in the ring.

“Wrestling is my job, and I love it, but it’s not my life”

Styles began the year injured, but he has since returned and is in the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament at Night of Champions. Styles’ third WWE world championship reign will begin on May 27 if he defeats Seth Rollins.
