Bianca Belair and Iyo Sky’s Showdown At Backlash: A Spectacle to Remember!

Right off the heel of what could’ve been the greatest Wrestlemania of all time that instead turned into a decent Wrestlemania, is another sigh premium live event scheduled to air in a few weeks and that is the show that once upon a time, had Vince McMahon fought God, Backlash.

Now, the build for Backlash was put together like a WWE 2K universe mode in that it’s so random but unlike universe mode, the match card doesn’t show reeks of mediocrity (except maybe Cody vs Brock?).

BUUUUUUUUUUUUT. Although as of writing this, it hasn’t been made official, there is one match to look forward to that will be the garam masala that will bring all of the ingredients together and that is, Seth Rollins vs Omos.

I’m kidding, it’s Bianca Belair vs Iyo Sky for the RAW women’s championship. Those two performers did show up to world wrestling entertainment around the same time.

Both women made their debut in the Mae Young Classic.

Both women made their footprint in the black and gold era of NXT (you know, that period of time when Triple H actually booked the women’s division very well?).

Both women were great heels that still hold the best theme songs in WWE right now.

Both women have faced each other before, most notably in that fatal four-way match between them, Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane.

What I’m trying to say is that they’re both really f’ing great at what they do.

Recently, they had a match one on one back in September of last year and it was, no shocker, fantastic and with now in a setting where there isn’t a crap ton of commercial in between matches, I believe a match between Sky and Belair at Backlash will be better than their encounter several months ago.

Why? Slaps his head Here’s WHY! Firstly, as mentioned earlier, they’re both generational talents that can deliver a solid match to pretty much anybody.

Secondly, you’re gonna see among other things, Bianca Belair whips her hair back and forth (to quote Willow Smith) only for Iyo Sky to dodge it like freaking Trinity in the Matrix movies as well as a perfectly executed moonsault from Sky and a perfectly executed 450 splash from Belair I mean c’mon, who doesn’t like to see all of that (cough, cough Jim Cornette)?

Speaking of high-flying manoeuvres, thirdly, you’ll probably witness Iyo Sky pull off a Shawn Michaels Wrestlemania 21 match spot where she’ll do a diving crossbody from the middle rope onto Bianca Belair through the announce table that’ll make the Puerto Rico crowd shout, “SANTA MIERDA!” Again, who doesn’t want to see that (*cough, cough disco inferno)?

In other words, this match is going to rule harder than the Mongolian empire and I’m honestly here for ALL of it.

If this match does go through, here’s hoping Bianca doesn’t defeat yet another prominent and talented Japanese performer considering that she defeated pretty much everybody on that RAW women’s roster but like a sequel to Beyond Good And Evil, that will probably never happen.
