There are rumors of several stars that are not currently signed to WWE possibly showing up during the Men’s Royal Rumble match. NJPW stars Jay White and Jeff Cobb are among names that many fans speculate might appear as surprise entrants.
NJPW star Jeff Cobb was recently asked about a potential Rumble appearance during an interview with WrestlingNewsCo. The United Empire muscle responded by noting that he’d be down to showing up at the January 28th event, thought WWE might have to go through several protocols to reach out to him given his current status with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
“You never say never. But it all depends on if the stars lined up and all that stuff. Again, if they wanted me for some odd reason, then they’d have to go through the right avenues. I don’t think they could contact me directly because I don’t think that’s legal. I don’t know how those things work. But yeah, if for some odd reason, they were like, ‘Hey, we wanna put Jeff in the Royal Rumble,’ I’m not good at Royal Rumbles. I don’t want to run down to the ring either, so [laughs]. But yeah, if the stars aligned, I’d be totally down to do it.”Jeff Cobb
Former ECW and WWE Champion Rob Van Dam is down to making a Royal Rumble appearance as well. The ECW icon last wrestled for Vince McMahon’s company in 2014.
