IMPACT Wrestling World Champion Josh Alexander Comments on Broken Neck, Growing the Brand
Josh Alexander is the 3rd longest reigning TNA/IMPACT Wrestling World Champion. Recently, Josh spoke with Fightful.com staff about his broken neck, his opportunity with the company, and how he feels he’s helping the company grow.
Fightful spoke with Josh Alexander, World Champion of IMPACT Wrestling.
Josh Alexander: ”Breaking my neck and having to have surgery and step away from wrestling is one of the best things that ever happened to me. When I had time off, I had more time to reflect and realized I wasn’t putting in work to the level I wanted to, so it motivated me to not waste the time that I had. IMPACT Wrestling gave me an opportunity and I capitalized.”
He said his neck is fine, and he feels younger at 35 than he did at 25 because he takes care of himself much better now.
Alexander continues: ”my ultimate goal at IMPACT is to grow the company to the level where I believe the roster is. I want to get more eyes on the show, and feels like doing specials and PPVs help that. I personally put it on myself to work harder to make that happen.”
Josh Alexander defeated Eddie Edwards to retain his IMPACT World Title at Bound for Glory back on October 7th. This was an incredible match and could’ve gone either way. Josh fought harder and came out the victor at the end. His title reign has included victories over AEW star Christian Cage, Moose, New Japan Pro Wrestling star Tomohiro Ishii, former AEW and Ring of Honor star Bobby Fish, as well as others.
Josh most recently teamed with his Overdrive opponent, AEW star Frankie Kazarian, to defeat the former New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Openweight Tag Team Champion Aussie Open when Kazarian hit Mark Davis with a Slingshot Cutter for the victory.
Josh and Frankie will headline the LIVE Overdrive event in Louisville, Kentucky on 11/18.
