Willie Mack originally joined IMPACT Wrestling in 2018 and is a former X Division champion.
In May of 2022, Willie Mack announced that he was leaving IMPACT Wrestling and returning to the independents. He explained his departure while speaking to Denise Salcedo after his participation in AAA Triplemania XXX. Willie expressed that the bulk of the issue revolved around money.
“Well, first and foremost, it was a money thing, because they promised one thing and I said, ‘You know what? I’m not accepting that,'” Mack said. “So I went back to where I started, on the independents, even though it’s a tough grind, but I’m least I’m having fun and getting to travel and meeting people that I haven’t seen in years. It’s good to be able to do your own thing. I can pick up the phone and say, ‘I can be there Monday night,’ [or] ‘I can’t do that, I’m already booked here,’ and stuff like that. It feels great.”
Furthermore, Willie Mack says he is just trying to be seen in as many promotions as possible, hearkening back to several years ago in his career when he was working for multiple promotions with television exposure simultaneously.
“Short-term, I just want to try to get as many places as I can. Because I remember at one point, I was on IMPACT television, Ring of Honor, and NWA TV all at the same time. Somebody literally turned on the TV and saw me, every week, on all three. I want to try to do that again.”
Willie Mack’s last match in IMPACT was on May 5, 2022, when he teamed with Rich Swann to take on Bullet Club members Jay White & Chris Bey. The match ended with Chris Bey hitting Mack with the Art of Finesse and picking picking up the victory for Bullet Club.
Since his departure, Willie has been a regular on AAA shows, has dipped his foot into New Japan Pro Wrestling, and is currently booked on the upcoming Major League Wrestling season premiere on Nov 3rd.
