IMPACT Wrestling Makes Massive Office Hire
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com just broke some exclusive news:
Impact Wrestling has hired former WWE and Cirque du Soliel Exec Lou D’Angeli to head up their marketing going forward as well as additional duties behind the scenes, PWInsider.com can exclusively confirm.
D’Angeli, who initially cut his teeth in the pro wrestling world on camera and behind the scenes for the original Extreme Championship Wrestling, was brought on board as a consultant for the company several months ago. He was recently hired for a full-time executive position and has been working behind the scenes at recent TV tapings.
After his time with ECW, D’Angeli worked for Comcast-Spectator including a run for several years as Assistant General Manager & Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Colorado’s Budweiser Events Center. He was brought into WWE in 2006 and quickly rose in the ranks to become Director of Marketing for the company and one of the major execs behind Wrestlemania AXXESS.
D’Angeli’s success in WWE led to Cirque du Soleil seeking him out and hiring him away from WWE, leading to an 11 year+ run where he served as Vice-President of Marketing, Sales & Public Relations, Resident Shows Division, North America and helped shepherd the brand back out of bankruptcy brought on by an inability to tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anyone who is even remotely aware of D’Angeli’s skills as an exec will tell you this is a massive hire for Impact.
This most likely also explains the recent departure of DLo Brown as a backstage producer and Talent Relations.
