Imperium Reunites, Gunther Retains Intercontinental Title At WWE Clash At The Castle

Before the match even began, we saw an incredible moment as Giovanni Vinci would rejoin Ludwig Kaiser and Gunther to reform Imperium.

Once the match began however, it was all about Gunther and Sheamus. The match was so brutal, it was very noticeable early on that both were swinging for the fences, with Sheamus’ chest quickly opening up in welts. The early parts of the match were all about the champion, with Sheamus building to ten beats, which he managed to hit repeatedly when the matches momentum shifted to the challenger.

Eventually however, there could be only one winner of this war and in the end, Gunther would manage to retain the Intercontinental Championship in Wales. The finish would comprise of Sheamus failing to hit a brogue kick due to his back giving out, which Gunther had worked throughout the match. After that, it would be one more powerbomb and a vicious lariat that would give Gunther the win.

After the match, Sheamus would receive a well deserved standing ovation from the Cardiff crowd.
