Former UFC title challenger, Jared Cannonier, is set to take on Sean Strickland in the headlining bout of a UFC Fight Night event that is set to be held on October 15 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ariel Helwani first reported the news of this bout being in the works via a tweet on Wednesday, although the promotion has yet to officially confirm anything regarding the event or booking. Cannonier is 5-2 since moving to 185 pounds back in November 2018 and will look to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to reigning UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya at UFC 276 last month.
Strickland on other hand is 5-1 since making his return to the middleweight division in October 2020 and is coming off of a first-round KO loss to former two-division Glory kickboxing champ, Alex Pereira, also back at UFC 276.
We will have more of an update once the UFC releases more information about this event.
