James Krause Announces Retirement from MMA

It looks like James Krause is officially content with his MMA career.

Having fought 36 times in his career. James Krause career spans before he turned professional in 2007. Prior to going pro, Krause had an astonishing amateur career with a record of 18–1, holding two championships and for six consecutive months was ranked as the #1 amateur in the country.

On November 28, 2007, Krause made his pro debut for Kansas’, Titan Fighting Championships, defeating Kevin Hengler via submission in the first round.

Throughout 2008 and 2009, Krause fought all over the Midwest, mostly in Missouri, collecting a 10–0 record with all his wins coming from stoppages.

Krause would make his WEC debut, stepping in on short-notice to fight future UFC legend Donald Cerrone where Krause lost in the 1st round. Despite going 0-2 in the WEC, Krause would not allow that to be what people saw him as.

Krause would go 9-2 before signing with the UFC where he defeated Sam Stout on June 15th, 2013 at UFC 161 in the 3rd round by guillotine choke.

Over the next couple of years, Krause would go on to have a UFC record of 9-4 where a majority of his wins came by either a TKO or submission win.

Krause was the final guest today on the MMA Hour, he would talk about his coaching gig he’s had over the years and how he felt coaching last Saturday night when Brandon Moreno, who Krause was coaching won in the co-main event to become the interim Flyweight champion.

Krause feels content with his MMA career, he feels fulfillment from coaching rather than stepping in the octagon to fight ever again thus announcing his retirement from fighting in MMA.

A career that has spanned for over a decade is officially coming to an end, Krause is the owner to his gym Glory MMA & Fitness and we will still see them in the corner to their fighters for as long as we are able to.
