Adam Cole Is Happy His Final Match In NXT Was With Kyle O’Reilly

Adam Cole continues to share more details on his NXT exit.

Last year Adam Cole would leave the WWE following his contract expiring. While many were sad to see him go, from a fans perspective they could not wait for Cole to turn up in AEW, which he did at All Out last year. Cole has since solidified himself as one of the top heels in the promotion, winning the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. Before all that however, Adam Cole signed an extension of his NXT contract to take him through Takeover 36, where he would face Kyle O’Reilly in a 2 out of 3 falls match.

The two had a heated rivalry in NXT after the implosion of The Undisputed Era. Cole recently spoke about the final match on The Kurt Angle Show, stating there would have been no one he would have rather face than Kyle O’Reilly in his final match.

“Getting to do that with him, there’s no one I would’ve rather wrestled or been in there with than Kyle,” Cole said. “Just because I got to close my Ring of Honor chapter with him in a lot of ways, I got to close my PWG chapter and then my “NXT” chapter with Kyle. So it was a very special night and a very emotional night for me.”

Cole and O’Reilly have partnered back up in AEW, but time will tell if we will see the two square off again in singles competition, for now both feature on AEW’s long list of injuries.
