The last few days have been buzzing about who will be the replacement opponent for Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr, that question got a huge answer tonight at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door.
The newest member of Blackpool Combat Club was revealed to be Claudio Castagnoli, formerly known as Cesaro in his time with WWE before leaving earlier this year.
Castagnoli is a former two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion with his partner Chris Hero (as “The Kings of Wrestling;” As Cesaro, he held 7 tag team titles in WWE: a two-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion, and a five-time WWE (Raw) Tag Team Champion. Castagnoli and Sheamus were part of a tag team named The Bar together they were four-time WWE (Raw) Tag Team Champions and one-time WWE (SmackDown) Tag Team Champions.
The 41-year old Swiss Superman will be interesting to see in AEW, now part of Blackpool Combat Club which consists of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and managed by William Regal, the addition of their newest member Castagnoli will be interesting to see how it goes moving forward.
Castagnoli will also be the final member to next week’s Blood and Guts match which will have the Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker vs. Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz who will team up with BCC’s Moxley, Yuta and now their newest member Castagnoli.
