UFC Issues Press Release For UFC 278, Will Take Place in Salt Lake City: Usman vs. Edwards II, Costa vs. Rockhold and Aldo vs. Dvalishvili Announced for Card

The Vivint Arena, home to the NBA’s Utah Jazz, formerly the AFL’s Blaze and WNBA’s Starzz will be the arena taking place for UFC 278 in Salt Lake City.

The UFC issued a press release announcing UFC 278 being headlined by the Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in a rematch vs/ Leon Edwards, the last time these two fought was in 2015 when Usman outwrestled Edwards to take the decision.

Since that win in 2015, Usman has defeated Warlley Alves, Sean Strickland, Demian Maia and Rafael Dos Anjos before dominating Tyron Woodley to be crowned the new Welterweight champion. The Nigerian Nightmare has had successful defenses vs. Colby Covington (2x), Jorge Masvidal (2x) and Gilbert Burns.

Edwards did not slow down after the 2015 loss, stacking 8 wins in 7 years, notable wins vs. Vicente Luque, Bryan Barberena, Donald Cerrone, Gunnar Nelson, Dos Anjos and Nate Diaz.. “Rocky” has improved tremendously and come fight night looks to hand Usman their first loss in the UFC.
