It seems we may know Thunder Rosa’s next challenger.
There have been many critics regarding Thunder Rosa’s AEW Women’s Title reign since she became champion earlier this year. However, this week on Dynamite we saw Rosa defend her title vs Marina Shafir, who would lose the match and then beat down Rosa, until Toni Storm made the save. Storm would tease a match as she handed the AEW Women’s title to the champion, but it seems AEW are not going in that direction just yet.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Miyu Yamashita has been impressive during her matches on AEW Dark and Elevation.
“After she did so well in streaming matches, there is talk of doing an AEW title match with Thunder Rosa vs. Miyu Yamashita.”

It is unknown at this time whether this will be a full storyline or we will get another weekly title defence from Thunder Rosa in the coming weeks.
