WWE Not Sure What To Do Regarding Women’s Tag Title Tournament

It seems WWE don’t even know what to do with their own titles.

Last week on RAW, we heard that Sasha Banks and Naomi had walked out of the company, leaving their titles behind. The move was condemned by the WWE and on Friday live on SmackDown, Michael Cole would announce that the pair had been indefinitely suspended and a tournament would be held to crown new champions.

The women’s tag team division faces a major lack of depth. As of now, the only established tag teams are Nikki ASH and Doudrop as well as Natalya and Shayna Baszler. Two teams does not make for a very interesting tournament. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s dilemma.

“I mean, we’ll see what they come up with. Well you just put, I mean, jeez, Zelina and Carmella have broken up twice, but whatever. The only team is Baszler and Natalya. Everybody else is… Like, Morgan and Rhea Ripley broke up as a team.”

“I guess you could do Nikki ASH and Doudrop as a team, but they certainly weren’t put together as a team to be in the championship mix. They were put together as a team to, you know, do whatever they were going to do with Nikki to culminate the little angle that they were doing.”

But, yeah, maybe they’ll have to be in it. I guess they will have to be in it. There’s not a lot of teams there that are going on. So, I would say that they’ll have to be in it too, yeah.”

Time will tell how WWE will build the tournament. They may be to call up Toxic Attraction ahead of schedule in order to have an actual team win the championships. What do you think? Who should be the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions? Let us know in the comments section and on our social media pages.
