Luke Jacobs Wins PROGRESS Atlas Tournament Defeating Former WWE Superstar In Final

This past weekend PROGRESS held a tournament to crown a new PROGRESS Atlas Championship for the first time since the belt was retired in 2019, when then PROGRESS World Champion Walter defeated then Atlas Champion Trent Seven in a title unification match.

PROGRESS brought in 9 of the best independent heavyweight Wrestlers from around the world for the tournament including former WWE stars including Big Damo (fka Killin Dain), Axel Tischer (fka Alexander Wolfe) and Jonah (fka Bronson Reed). Other entrants included ROH superstar Joe Hendry, GCW star Ricky Shane Page, Defy Wrestling’s Schaff, PROGRESS regulars Warren Banks and Luke Jacobs as well as Will Kross making his debut for Progress.

In the end it was PROGRESS regular, Young Guns and North West Strong member Luke Jacobs who stood victorious after the two day tournament to be crowned the first PROGRESS Atlas champion of the new era.

Jacobs defeated Jonah in the final after dispatching Big Damo in round one and defeating his old foe Warren Banks in the semi-final, Jonah defeated Schaff at Defy 60 to advance to the semi-finals where he defeated Ricky Shane Page in the Semi-final before being toppled by Jacobs in the final.

With this win Jacobs has become the youngest PROGRESS Champion in History and was one of the lynch pins of PROGRESS during their no fan era and has continued to be so under the Mcateer and Best Era. This is the second tournament Jacobs has won with PROGRESS, as he won last years Natural Progress tournament, winning the right to challenge then PROGRESS World Champion Cara Noir.

Jacobs also competed in the PROGRESS tag team tournament alongside his Young Guns tag partner and fellow North West Ethan Allen loosing out in the finals to Lykos Gym.

PROGRESS return on May 15th with Chapter 134: No Mountain High Enough already announced Jonathan Gresham vs Gene Munny, Spike Trivet vs Cara Noir, RKJ vs Leon Slater plus wXw stars battle it out for a place in the upcoming Super Strong Style 16 tournament.
