Three Former NXT Stars Announced For Progress’ Atlas Tournament

On the 18th of March Progress teased on social media that an announcement regarding the return of the Atlas tournament was coming, Progress then delivered that announcement at the Chapter 130: Dodge Dip Duck Dive Dodge show yesterday evening.

It was Simon Miller who delivered that announcement, announcing that the Atlas Tournament will be taking place over two days on the 17th and 18th of April at Chapters 132 “By The Beard Of Zeus and 133 “Stop Motion Skeleton Battle” respectively.

That was not all as Simon would go on to announce the first 5 competitors for the tournament including 3 former NXT stars, Jonah (Bronson Reed), Axel Tischer (Alexander Wolfe) and Big Damo (Killian Dain) as well as British star Joe Hendry and American Independent wrestler Ricky Shane Page.

The Announcement was then made to their social media accounts;

The return of the Atlas tournament was first announced as part of press release regarding the change of ownership as Lee McAteer and Martyn Best took over the reins, also announced as part of the press release was the return of Super Strong Style 16 later this year.

The Atlas tournament was first introduced 2016 in jest to the launch of WWE’s 205 tournament, the competitors of the Atlas Tournament had to be over 205lbs and the tournament was won by Rampage Brown who was crowned the inaugural Atlas Champion.

The Atlas title was retired in 2019 when it was unified with the Progress World Championship, after Trent Seven who was Atlas champion at the time challenged then Progress World Champion Walter to a title unification match at Chapter 88, which was won by Walter.
