Shane Strickland Says WWE’s Creative Was Too Slow for Him

Shane Strickland, who competed in WWE under the name Isaiah Scott, was released by WWE alongside his Hit Row stablemates back in December, mere weeks after being brought up to the main roster.

During an interview with Busted Open Radio this morning, Strickland discussed what is next for him and detailed how he felt about WWE’s creative. Mark Henry asked the former NXT North American Champion whether or not he thought it benefited him being a free agent and not being held back from all of the other things he does well.

“Truth be told I felt like the system with the WWE…it moved too slow for me. I don’t like to wait to go up a chain of command and get permission to do the things I don’t wanna do and I know they’re not gonna work. Especially when it comes to creative, it is not like it was necessarily shackling me, it was eventually gonna happen but it just moved too slow and I’m bouncing from plane to plane, meeting to meeting and meeting with music people music executives, and all this other stuff I’m trying to get squared away and they’re seeing what I bring to their product. I don’t get those meetings I don’t get those opportunities don’t get top voice my vision for things inside of a corporation a place that has so much restriction and I understand the restriction and their concern for a lot of reasons why they have a system and why they do what they do but it’s just not what I want to be in.”

Shane Strickland made his debut for NJPW answering Jay Whites’ open challenge last night. Earlier in January, it was also announced that Strickland would be teaming up with PWRevolver and would be hosting an event in his namesake “Swerves House”. We will have to see what is next for Strickland as the sky is the limit for him and he will be an asset to any roster he is placed on.
