Seth Rollins Reportedly Slated To Appear In Royal Rumble Match At One Point, Despite Finish Of WWE Championship Match

WWE presented its second Premium Live Event of the year, one of it’s “Big Four” events, the 2022 Royal Rumble this past weekend.

There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes, and many changes were made to the show in the weeks leading up to the event and many made the day of the event as well. According to Ringside News, there has been an incredible amount of heat on Shane McMahon, who was the lead writer and producer for the Men’s Royal Rumble Match. It was reported that Shane has heat backstage after he booked the match around himself.

A tenured member of WWE’s Creative Team mentioned that at one point Seth Rollins had been booked in the Rumble match. This would be after the plethora of chair shots he took from Universal Champion Roman Reigns in their championship match that opened the show.

The report would go on to say their sources had stated:

“The Rumble kept changing all day because people kept going to Vince McMahon complaining. At one point Shane had Seth Rollins in there.”

This “made no sense” the sources said because Brock Lesnar was scheduled to appear in the Rumble match. In addition, WWE Superstars were informed quote: “Early in the day” that Lesnar would be a surprise entrant to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match. So, if the Rumble match seemed off to viewers last night rest assured this might help explain some of the confusion.
