Sami Zayn, WWE Reach New Deal

Only a month removed from report by the Wrestling Observer that sources within WWE indicated Sami Zayn would likely reach an extension with WWE, Sami Zayn has indeed inked a new contract with wrestling’s top promotion. Fightful Select is reporting that Zayn is now “locked down for several more years.” Zayn joins his real-life best friend and long-time television adversary Kevin Owens, who also recently re-signed with WWE on a mult-year pact.

Sami Zayn originally signed with the company in 2013 after an 11-year run on the Independents. Zayn immediately became one of NXT’s top stars, including an NXT Championship win over Adrian Neville, prior to being called up to the main roster. Since joining the main roster, Zayn has become a 2-time Intercontinental Champion. “The Great Liberator” has spent the pandemic presenting a conspiracy theorist persona and most recently saw himself in the middle of both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns’ ire. In recent weeks, Zayn has focused on Jackass star Johnny Knoxville and the fast-approaching Royal Rumble event.
