Results

Jungle Boy w/ Luchasaurus and Christian Cage v. Isiah Kassidy w/ Marq Quen, Jora Johl & Matt Hardy – Jungle Boy wins by submission (Snare Trap)
The two battled back and forth exchanging offense in the corners. Both wrestlers played to their strengths as athletic high-flyers. Kassidy took the upper hand after taking Jungle Boy to the outside and launching himself over the top rope with a corkscrew dive. He continued to dominate in the ring, stomping his opponent in the corner and doing damage to the midsection. Jungle Boy turned the momentum in his favor with a comebacker lariat but Kassidy was able to stun him before hitting a poisonrana. Marq Quen tried to make his presence felt but was chased away by Christian Cage as Luchasaurus dealt with Matt Hardy and Jora Johl. While the scrum outside took place Jungle Boy took Kassidy down and locked in the snare trap, getting the submission win.

Kris Statlander v. Legit Leyla Hirsch
Statlander showed off her size advantage early until Hirsch took her to the corner and hit a cannonball senton on a slumping alien. Statlander turned the tide with a big powerslam into a delayed vertical suplex. Hirsh tried to battle back with an armbar and second-rope moonsault, but could only get a two count. Statlander delivered a Blue Thunder bomb followed by a boot to the face. She then locked in the spider crab submission to get the victory. Following the match Statlander tried to shake hands, but was turned aside by Hirsch.

Segment: Mark Henry interviews Sammy Guevara and Cody Rhodes ahead of the main event
The two wrestlers exchanged pleasantries before Mark Henry cut them off to deliver his usual “Enough talk. It’s time…for the main event!”

TNT Championship: Cody Rhodes w/ Arn Anderson v. Sammy Guevara (c)
The legendary David Crockett was announced at ringside. The match kicked off with Sammy and Cody battling for an advantage before Sammy took the early momentum. Cody went to the outside to regroup and as “Cody sucks!” chants rained down. Rhodes took control briefly before being thrown to the outside by Guevara, who attempted a shooting star press off the apron which missed. Cody took the champion back inside the ring and began to wear Sammy down with submissions. Cody attempted a moonsault, which missed, as Sammy took the momentum back with a beautiful double-jump springboard cutter followed by a Cross-Rhodes. Cody rolled outside to avoid the cover only to be hit with a springboard 450 splash from a flying champion. Cody caught Sammy as the champion attempted more aerial offense and powerbombed him into the first row. Rhodes brought Guevara back inside the ring for a Cross-Rhodes of his own but Sammy managed to kick out. Cody tried for a reverse suplex off the top rope but Guevara landed on his feet, caught Rhodes as he dove off the top and delivered the GTH. Guevara couldn’t get a three count following the GTH so he tried for a 630 senton. Rhodes got his knees up to counter the champion, delivered two more Cross-Rhodes, and finished Guevara off with a Tiger Driver to become the first 3-time champion in AEW.

This was a wild edition of AEW Rampage, with the TNT title changing hands from fan favorite Sammy Guevara to a controversial Cody Rhodes. The aftermath will certainly be interesting. AEW is back on Wednesday, December 29 at 8pm EST for the Dynamite New Year’s Smash. We will be right back here to keep you in the loop with live results and recaps.
