Seth Rollins Likens His Character to the ‘Joker Going Through a Mid-Life Crisis’

WWE

Since Seth Rollins’ return at the 2021 Royal Rumble, his character has undergone a development that he has coined the “Drip God.” Every week fans tune in to see what eccentric suit Rollins will come out in next.

Speaking with Josh Martinez on Z100, Rollins discusses how this drastic change came to be, feeling that during the pandemic, all the entertainment on television felt dark.

“Thinking back to the characters of my youth and guys like Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Gorgeous George, guys like that where they were just peacocking all the time. I wanted to find my own version of that and make it fun to hate somebody. I thought it would be totally different to what I’ve ever done and here we are.”

Continuing on, Rollins also compared the current iteration of his character to one of the most iconic DC Comics villains, The Joker.

“It’s as if the Joker were a narcissist going through a mid-life crisis. I guess that’s the best way to put it. It’s a lot happening. The cool thing about the character is it can kind of go any which way. There is a lot of unpredictably with it. That’s fun. You can have matches like Hell in a Cell with Edge and you can also have television segments where I can laugh with my best friend Bayley for five minutes. There are not a lot of characters on our television that can do all these different things.”

Rollins is currently in the mix for the WWE Championship. At WWE Day 1, he will take on WWE Champion Big E, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley in a fatal four-way for the championship.
