The Rock Was Originally Scheduled For Survivor Series

Last night’s Survivor Series show celebrated 25 years since The Rock’s WWE debut, with many video packages being played to remind fans of some of the iconic moments from his career.

Considering so much of the show was centered around his career, as well as WWE promoting his new Netflix movie, many were left surprised that The Rock didn’t appear on the show.

Earlier this year Andrew Zarin reported that The rock was slated to make some sort of appearance at the PPV but as we all know with how things have been lately plans are changing by the minute.

Andrew Zarian of F4Wonline has reported that the original plan was for The Rock to be at Survivor Series. The entire pay-per-view was supposed to be centered around The Great One. That plan was the same until sometime around September.

“In July, I was told that the Brooklyn, New York, pay-per-view would be centered around Johnson. Between heavily promoting his new Red Notice movie on Netflix, the 25th anniversary of his WWE debut that took place in New York City, NBC’s renewal of Young Rock, and the second season of the Ruthless Aggression documentary series, the timing was perfect. In late-September, the same source told me that Johnson would not be on Survivor Series due to his filming schedule and needing to quarantine for travel. However, there was still a financial obligation to continue with the plan for the movie promotion without Johnson which is what we saw last night. The basic concept stayed the same, minus Johnson himself.”

The report notes that WWE still had to promote the Red Notice movie due to financial commitments that they had made. Who knows maybe sometime soon we will see the Great One in a WWE ring again and one has to think it’s not of question of if, but more like when. We here at Bodyslam.net were told personally by Zarian that he was told that”whenever he wants to come he will be there”.
