Carmelo Hayes released a video on Twitter calling out the veterans of NXT and letting the world know he is the new face of NXT.
The latest episode of NXT on November 3rd featured Carmelo Hayes and Tommaso Ciampa going face-to-face. Carmelo who is the new NXT North American Champion told the current NXT Champion, Ciampa, to his face that he is the ‘A Champion’ of the brand.
Last night at around 10pm, Carmelo shared a video on his Twitter page calling out some of the NXT veterans. He explained that their opinions of him do not matter and is focused on proving himself to be the best wrestler on the newly-rejuvenated brand.
In the video Hayes said the following, “This is for all you NXT veterans that are pressed at the fact I’m calling myself the ‘A-Champion.’ I’mma let you know right now, I don’t care what you guys think. Tommaso Ciampa, Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano, I’m not worried about y’all. I’m gonna keep doing what I’m doing because, at the end of the day, when I get in the ring, I don’t freaking miss. So from this point on, this is my show. This is my brand. I’m the new face of NXT. That’s all it is. That’s all it’s going to be. Y’all can just kiss my ass.” (h/t Robert DeFelice of Fightful)
Pete Dunne, former NXT UK champion and NXT mainstay, shared the video simply saying, “Delusions probably.” Hayes, living up to his motto of being ‘Bout It, Bout It’ replied by saying, “Come and find out” with a shrug emoji at the end. Dunne responded to this comeback by saying “t u e s d a y.” Carmelo once again replied to his tweet with a check mark emoji. This match has yet to be announced for the next episode of NXT, but it is safe to assume we will see them in a match or segment together.
Carmelo has continued to prove himself to be the future of NXT. It has been documented how connected he is to Shawn Michaels, and with his blessing it seems he will go far in the company.
