Is Women’s Wrestling In WWE Regressing?

It’s weird saying that women’s wrestling in WWE is regressing, especially considering that Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair main evented night 1 of WrestleMania but the booking of the division lately makes you think that women’s wrestling in WWE is regressing.

Let’s look at the Queen’s Crown Tournament for example. The tournament had 7 matches and only the finals were above the 5 minutes mark (5:55). The tournament itself was booked poorly and barely promoted at all, then again, it was just a way to get a women’s match on Crown Jewel and claim they’re changing the culture there.

WWE lately has been booking episodes of TV that doesn’t even include women’s matches. Just look at the latest SmackDown episode. No women’s matches were booked for that show and this is becoming a regular thing.

All the titles of the women’s division feel meaningless. From the tag team titles in both main roster and NXT to the world titles. It doesn’t help when last week Lynch and Flair just traded belts in the most awkward segment ever. The title looked just like props after that disaster of a segment, but then again this is been going for quite some time.

WWE had a potential star in their hands when they crowned Bianca Belair in the main event of WrestleMania earlier this year. After that match, Belair feuded with Carmella for several months in a boring feud and lost the title at Summer Slam to Becky Lynch in the worst way possible. Belair has felt somewhat of an afterthought after losing the title.

It’s concerning how things keep getting worse for the women’s division in WWE for both main roster and NXT. Only time will tell if this just a rough patch or a sign of worse things to come.
