AEW Originally Planned For TNT Title Change To Happen Earlier This Month

On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Rochester, New York a new TNT Champion was crowned when Sammy Guevara defeated Miro in the Main Event.

However, plans changed for when Miro was originally supposed to drop the TNT title.

According to a report via Sean Ross Sapp and Fightful Select, there were originally plans for a TNT title change around the time of All Out earlier this month. But that didn’t happen, and the change was said to tentatively be planned for AEW Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe on September 22nd, before being moved to this week in Rochester.

“Plans were put in place for the title change around All Out. Beyond that, at one point the title change was tentatively planned for the AEW Arthur Ashe show on September 22, before being moved to this week.”

The report also stated that “by a couple of hours” before Dynamite started, there were “several backstage” aware of the title change planned for later that night.

New AEW TNT Champion Sammy Guevara will put the title on the line next week against former WWE NXT Superstar Bobby Fish.
