Gable Steveson Will Not Wrestle For WWE Until Graduates From The University Of Minnesota

Gable Steveson started receiving attention from many different companies and entities after the star colligate wrestler secured a gold medal in the 2021 summer Olympic games. The NFL and UFC were a few of the companies that were interested in bringing in Steveson for his services, but after a call from Vince McMahon personally, Steveson decided to sign with the WWE. It was reported that WWE gave Stevon a very unique contract as he will still be Wrestling for his college while under contract with the company.

In a recent interview with Aerial Helwani on the MMA Hour, Gable cleared up some of the confusion and stated that he had signed a three-year deal with the company. He also stated that his contract did have a catch to it, as he will not start with the company until he is done with college.

That never came up. I told them that I wanted to go back and finish school. Their number one priority was, ‘you can do that.’ Vince, Nick Khan, and Triple H all said, ‘Go win the National Title. Everything will still be in place for you. Get your degree and we’ll see you after that.’ Part of my deal is I can go on stage during my school time.

The subject then changed and Steveson was asked if he would work NXT or go straight to the Main Roster

There’s a very good chance that I go straight to the main roster and not go to NXT. I’m open for anything. With the way things are going, I think I’m going to jump straight to the main roster. I know there’s a lot to learn and I’m ready to soak everything in like a sponge and be ready to go out there and put on a good show for the crowd.

We still have a little while until Steveson is out of college so we will have to see what WWE plans to do with him when he finally debuts.
