Matt Cardona Says He Made More Money From Selling His Ring Gear Than From GCW Match

On July 24 at GCW Homecoming, Matt Cardona defeated Nick Gage to become the new GCW World Champion.

While winning a promotion’s world championship typically results in a major payoff for a wrestler, Cardona claims on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast that his earnings from the match were less than what he earned from selling his Ring Gear.

While Cardona does not state the specific numbers of his earnings from either the match or his sold ring gear, it’s clear that Cardona has created interest for both himself and GCW for more future shows.

“I sold all my bloody gear. For big bucks, baby. I sold the boots, the wrist tape, the gloves, the pants, the shirts, all sold separately. (I made) more than I got paid for the match. I got paid a lot for the match, but that’s how much the stuff was going for. I don’t control the market. It’s supply and demand”
