Eric Bishoff In Disbelief After Wyatt Release

Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend character was drawing comparisons to greats like the Undertaker. He was also praised for his creative nature. He received praise from WWE higher up as well as backstage talent for always reinventing himself.

Bray Wyatt had all momentum going into WrestleMania 37 against Randy Orton, but he somehow managed to be derailed by the company losing the match in uninspiring fashion after he was betrayed by Alexa Bliss.

This would be the last time that we would see Wyatt or the Fiend character as he was cut at the end of last month in a huge surprise to the wrestling world. Another person who was surprised by the release was none other than Hall Of Famer Eric Bishoff.

While speaking on his 83 Weeks Podcast Bishoff talked about how WWE has been releasing talent so frequently lately. He spoke on how he couldn’t believe how McMahon was feeding talent to AEW.

“I find it ironic that six or eight months ago people were thinking ‘oh man’ Vince McMahon is afraid to let anybody go because he’s afraid AEW,”

“For god’s sake,’ he’s like feeding people to AEW. I have no instinct on this, I have no gut feel on this but I am fascinated with the fact that WWE is willing to not just let talent go, let marquee talent go with a high level of equity amongst wrestling fans at the point where AEW is making such solid progress. They’ve got momentum in their corner now.

They’re on a roll now and what a weird time to release a talent like Bray Wyatt that has so much freaking equity with the audience and allow him to be in the position to go to AEW. That is a phenomenally interesting scenario to me, makes me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes in WWE. I’m just Fascinated, it’s an interesting time to be interested in the business of the wrestling business.

We will have to see what is next for Wyatt as he is already teasing a new character.
