It looks as if the “Summer of Cena” will be going on a bit longer than most people expected.
WWE mega-star John Cena is set to appear at the Super Smackdown event on September 10th, the company confirmed on Monday. The event takes place almost three weeks after his upcoming Universal Championship match against “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.
Many had assumed Cena’s return to WWE would wrap up at their biggest pay-per-view of the summer, with shooting on his upcoming movie ‘Argylle’ beginning sometime in August.
The Super Smackdown event is a significant one, as it is the first wrestling event at the famed Madison Square Garden arena since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Superstars from both RAW and Smackdown are set to appear.
