Kurt Angle Wishes Samoa Joe Could Have Faced Bobby Lashley

Samoa Joe missed the last year of his WWE career with a concussion. During that time, he moved from in the ring to behind the commentary table before his eventual release. The release shocked a lot of people from fans to other wrestlers. One of those people was Kurt Angle.

Angle talked about Joe’s release on his Kurt Angle Show podcast, not only expressing confusion for the release but saying he had hoped Joe would heal up and eventually step up to challenge Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship to give Lashley a physically imposing opponent to go up against.

Without a doubt, him or AJ Styles. Samoa Joe was a lot more physical. We had a more physical type of match. AJ was more athletic. Joe was a very intense individual and I’m surprised they released him. Especially with Bobby Lashley right now, they need some guys to go up against Bobby and I thought Samoa Joe would be a great person to represent that spot, but unfortunately, they did let him go and I’m not sure why.

Sadly, Joe was never cleared for competition from that concussion, and WWE didn’t seem to worry too much about it. Now he is a free agent and he might be able to get cleared independently as he finds himself able to rule the independent scene one more time.
