Pat McAfee Responds To Cody Rhodes’ Claims He Is Looking For Work In AEW

On today’s media call to hype tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes dropped an interesting tidbit, alleging Pat McAfee had been trying to find work with All Elite Wrestling. McAfee, who has a strong working relationship with AEW, was said to have been doing this despite throwing serious shade on the match Shaq has tonight where he and Jade Cargill will face Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.

McAfee heard what Cody said and was quick to respond to it on his radio show. He denied the claims while saying he’s contemplated retirement from his show more than working for AEW.

“Cody Rhodes just said that I’m trying to get employed by the AEW or whatever every other day. So let it be known that is not true. I’ve actually contemplated retirement retirement here more than I’ve contemplated going to AEW.”

McAfee did fire some shots at tonight’s show when Shaq claimed he would be having the best match ever by a celebrity in pro wrestling history. Then again, McAfee has been incredibly proud of the work he’s done and has been given rave reviews by wrestlers and the internet community over his performances in his singles match against Adam Cole and at War Games. While he might just be stirring the pot, he certainly got some attention away from Shaq on a day where a lot of eyes in the wrestling world are on him.
