Maki Itoh has made a strong impression on American fans. Her attitude and social media presence has won people over, including Cody Rhodes who said he wanted her to win the Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament.
She wound up getting knocked out in the first round, but fans everywhere are a huge fan of the Japanese idol turned wrestler and hope to see more of her in AEW. Cody was asked about the potential to see her in AEW again by Bodyslam’s own Cassidy Haynes, where he was asked if they had plans to bring her back.
Rhodes sounded pretty enthusiastic on the idea, where not only did he bring up her connection with the fans but brought up they have indeed had conversations with her, revealing some good news for fans of her.
He talks about her connection with the fans. He says that there have been conversations on his end, and that it is “pretty pretty likely we see her again in an AEW ring.”
Itoh has a charisma that few others have in the ring, and she has certainly started winning over fans in America. One person she didn’t win over, however, was Jim Cornette who referred to her as a “fetish.” However, she wasn’t afraid to clap back at him.
