One star who has found life after the WWE is Tay Conti. The former NXT star was released during the COVID-19 pandemic and has found a home in AEW where she has become a quick rising star in the company.
Conti wound up making her way to AEW thanks to the Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament and has stuck around as one of the company’s female division mainstays. One person who saw her potential in the company didn’t just see it when she arrived, but long before she ever stepped foot in the company.
Tony Khan saw the star potential of Conti while she was in NXT, and talked about how he saw her at a NXT house show on Wrestling Observer Live. While she wasn’t working the ring that night, Khan saw enough of her that he’s excited for her future potential.
“Tay Conti is a great example of somebody who I always thought looked like a star. I went to a NXT house show four years ago in Jacksonville and thought Tay Conti looked like she’d be a great star. She had such charisma and personality. She was working as a manager, and as a manager had that much charisma. She’s developed so much the past few years as a wrestler. I’m really excited about Tay Conti.”
Despite losing in the first round of the AEW Women’s Title Eliminator Tournament, Conti has been consistently ranked in the women’s Top 5 rankings for AEW and it seems like she has a big believer in her in Tony Khan.
